A Mini-Vacation & Tons of Fun: January 2016 In Photos

My kids were looking through all of the photos in the Mamatography Project that I used to participate in, a photo a day,  and they were bummed when they came to the last post.   They asked me to start posting photos again and I agreed that it was a great idea.  The Mamatographgy Project is no longer going on so I decided to make a monthly post filled with photos of our month.  It is the beginning of March so I am back tracking to January.

January was an absolute blast!  I scored a free MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry) annual membership for our family through Living Social so we decided to take a mini vacation from the east coast to the west coast.

We woke up early and left our home on the east coast of Florida and headed west.  We planned on staying in Clearwater Beach on our trip so when we passed through Tampa we stopped at MOSI to activate our membership and spend a few hours exploring and learning.

They all enjoyed the floating balls….

I was thrilled with this pro-breastfeeding attraction…

Ava loved trying to get through the ropes maze…

There is a ton of things to do at MOSI, I think it deserves a post of its own here one day!  After a very fun time at the museum it was time to leave busy Tampa and head to a more mellow Clearwater Beach.

Ahhhh, the beach again….

We rented this hilarious bike and it ended up being one of the best times of the entire trip.  It was cold for us but our laughter soon warmed us, and our hearts, right up!

After a long bike ride for five on a freezing day you must have ice-cream on an ice-cream bench…

With our MOSI annual pass we were able to visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium at a discounted rate.   This aquarium is home of Ava’s most favorite animal, Winter the dolphin made famous by the movie Dolphin Tale.

The girls were thrilled to see Winter again and they were able to hold one of her prosthetic tales!

Audrey spent most of her time petting the sting rays, she would have stayed here for hours.

This was a mini vacation so after two days it was time to head  home.  On our way back through Tampa we stopped at the Glazer Children’s Museum.  Of course our MOSI membership saved us money here as well, score!

The girls loved shopping and working at Publix.

Audrey loved being a chef at a restaurant.

Putting on shows was great fun for all three kids, Alex was in the background creating sound effects.

After a fun morning at the museum it was time to head back across the state to our home.  However, we had one stop left to surprise them with.

Disney!  We have resident weekday annual passes so it was hard to pass up this opportunity while passing by.  We chose Hollywood Studios for this trip.

Once we arrived home we had to get back into our groove but it is evident that our everyday groove is still pretty darn fun.

Ava enjoys riding horses at Cox Family Farm.

Audrey is always amazed by all of the manatees that come into the canals on cold Florida days….

What wonderful experience with you and your family. With all the fun they were having they were also learning. I tip my hat to the parents who make time to be with children to explore what the earth and placed have to offer. Learning never ceases, it always gets better every time. Enjoyed looking at the picture, they enjoying themselves!

I think that many of our fun adventures and even days when my kids are bored and ‘forced’ to find something to interest them on their own is more beneficial than the school work we do at the dining room table. You mention the mint, I just contacted our representative in hopes of White House tour this fall, a tour of the mint is on our itinerary as well…I’m really hoping it happens!
      Your dad sounds awesome <3
