A week after Easter we went on a field trip to a chocolate factory…you never can have too much chocolate!
To prepare the kids for this field trip I ordered Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the original one, from Netflix. They watched it yesterday. This was one of my favorites when I was a kid….it is NOT a favorite of my kids. Ava did not like the oompa loompas at all. Alex thought it was boring. At least I enjoyed watching it!
Today, we ate lunch then packed our hats and headed out to the Grimaldi chocolate factory! On the drive there I had to assure Ava that there would be no oompa loompas.
Of course, Audrey and Ava both fell asleep in the car about 10 minutes before we arrived at our destination. The look on Ava’s face when I woke her up and told her that we were at the chocolate factory was priceless….Ava LOVES chocolate!
Before we even stepped in the front door Alex claimed that he could smell the chocolate through the concrete wall, I really think that he could. It smelled delicious inside, the kids faces lit up!
The tour began….
This machine was described as a chocolate hot tub…how fun!
This machine was over 100 years old, back when machines were made to last!
This was the best part…the chocolate waterfall, covering the candies!
Alex and Ava held hands for most of the tour, so very sweet.
And when the tour was over we got yummy samples!
We needed to burn off some sugar so we headed to the river to play with friends.
Alex dug the sugar off….
Audrey ate yogurt to balance the sugar….
Ava asked if we could go to the chocolate factory everyday…I had to break the news to her that no, we cannot.
What a great day, I love homeschooling!!
