My family eliminated processed foods from our diet gradually. Once we ran out of an item I would replace it with a healthier homemade version of the item. This transition was not immediately welcomed with open arms from our children. We allow for some indulgences but overall we have been diligent in eating real unprocessed foods. I speak with experience when I say “stick with it!” your tastes, and your children’s tastes, will change. You will begin to appreciate real foods and when you do processed foods will become much less appealing (I used to love ranch flavored chips they are now totally unappetizing to me).
I have recently eliminated beef, pork, and poultry from my diet. My children and husband still eat these items on occasion. Our weekly family meals are 75% meat free. I know that this change is not for everyone but I wanted to share with you our families eating habits since I am sharing many of our favorite recipes!
