This week….

September 26th, 2011 | Posted by Angela Roberts in Homeschool

Let’s see what are we learning this week.  We are still working on the Story About Ping.  Sweet little Ping.  The kids are really loving the story.  I am really happy that I went with Five in a Row.

Ava in bed with The Story About Ping

I have really focused on teaching the lesson of taking your consequence instead of running from it.  Alex, was caught telling his first lie this week so it seems fitting.  We are going to make lo mien & egg rolls tomorrow to correlate with China and find the Yangtze River on our map of Asia.  We will also be gluing our Asia continent onto their paper mache globes.  Alex is loving counting, he does it all day long, so I will have him count the members in Pings’ family including the 42 cousins!  I am trying to find a simple science experiment on buoyancy to show Alex how the barrel on the little boys back made him float.

I am working with Alex in his Math Made Easy 1st grade workbook and hope to purchase the Horizon’s first grade math program this week.  I need to just take a deep breath and push the buy now button.

And of course working on phonics, which Alex claims is the most boring thing ever!

Ava will work on letter recognition.  Audrey will continue to work on being a super sweet little baby who likes to get into everything!!

This is what I found when I came into the kitchen!

And on the non school front I have about 125 items of clothes to process, take photos of and list online.  I need to mail 25 items items at some point today.  AND I need to go to the grocery store.  Only time will tell if I get it all done but I am going to focus on being positive, not stressing, and living in the moment with my kids!

You’re so creative. I bet you’re learning a lot by doing this too. I know that if you asked me to point out the Yangtze River, I couldn’t! Alex just told his first lie? Buck must be “advanced.” He is already getting started wth lying. You are doing great and I’m happy for you that you can do this. Can’t wait to hear more about the homeopathic remedies and learn how to be more green. I want to be more green!! haha…love you!
